The one (monad) is a fallacy in manifestation. To recognize the individual is to also note that which it is not; The creation of two. In the realization of duality we have three: The individual (one), the other (two), their relationship (three), and from that interplay all infinity springs forth from that fountain. Many religious systems have their symbol to represent duality (few notice 2 is never only 2)

In the cross we have lessons such as the relationship between the macrocosm (big universe - God) the microcosm (little universe - humanity). We also see the idea of the intersection in this linear symbol, where 2 becomes 3 by their interaction (where the 2 overlap 3 is born).
It stimulates my mind to ponder how this symbol has rooted itself into the way of thinking of western minds - including the uninitiated.

The yin/yang of Taoism introduced a similar truth, representing duality and it’s interplay. Here we get new information. Instead of the linear representation in the cross, we have an interplay. Two fluid energies playing, mating, relating and even in subtle ways mixing elements of “the other” to find sense of Union. Again we have a representative of dualism and the way two becomes three.
The Yin/Yang of Taoism is generally interpreted as feminine and masculine, though this shouldn’t be thought of as woman and man, as culture is a floor below the essence these energies point to. The realm of biological sex echoes some of what Yin/Yang looks to explain, but is fraught with baggage that pure energy is free of.

(Of course in the creation of binaries as an experienced reality, inequalities need to be addressed; and grounding a philosophy in division: The Cartesian mode of mind/body duality is itself a thing that perpetuates division)

I believe we have entered a new phase of religious thinking. Ushered in by bad actors in positions of power, and perpetuated by fear and virtue. If you “identify” with a side or a team, you have likely been indoctrinated. Your belief system (or B.S. as Robert Anton Wilson (writer) appropriately abbreviated) excludes information. This secular religious thinking (much like its Sacred counterpart) categorizes into “good ideas” and “bad ideas” and conflates these concepts with “true” and “false”

Those who choose to go against the baptism of Tribalism are witches sacrificed on alters of cancel culture; priests and priestesses of “right” and “left” do their uniquely similar sacrificing of heretics. We have entered a dark age (moment?) of intellect, discourse and relationship. Much like the McCarthy era, people you trust could turn you in for ideas that are unacceptable to the orthodoxy.
I hope we will wake up to the mystical truths that our current use of language fails to communicate.
