Hello Friends,

In mapping time and development one of the numerological systems I use is a Taoist magic square, the one most utilized in Katonah Yoga® methodology. This would make September the conclusion of a “9” cycle. The experience of the “9” in a manifested reality. Occasionally I’ll map this in terms of days or hours, but the monthly and yearly are particular times I consider the ways I am flowing with this cycle. Whence the “1” (January) initiated, the “9” (September) experiences a transcendence. The flower that only blooms annually is experiencing its final expression, the colors will burst and soon fade away, the suns influence is waning - but it is still a time of basking.

It feels an incredibly apt time to share “Where There Is Hope, There Is Light…” - a collaborative dance/music piece, with dancer Alex Brazinski, that looks to paint a portrait of ritual developed throughout this cycle and is now ready to offer its late summer fruit. Today (at the writing of this August 20th, 2024) felt like the conclusion of the musical writing. The final movement (IV. Sacrament) was missing something up until the other night. I picked up my guitar and picked out the A Major chord that seeks to represent wind chimes and found myself unexpectedly playing the “Taps” or “Lights Out” bugle call for American Military’s “end of day” or “end of life” anthem. This manages to fit the tone of the final movement well as it looks to represent “the end of an effort” but also the birth of an idea. The violin part that will speak on-top of the guitar’s bass line, sings of an other-worldly influence that is now the influence guiding reality.

The other three movements: I. Initiation, II. Banishing, III. Sacrament, have gone through minor changes in the last few months, it only seems fitting that Transcendence is only now arriving.
